While a static façade is primarily a surface looking outwards to the world, protecting the contents of the architectural structure, the media façade brings a new dynamic layer of digital information to its surface. “Crossroads” proposes to use the volume of the FIESP building (Sao Paolo, Brazil) as a large section scanner. This gives passersby a new transformative vantage point to remote locations. A series of comparative inquiries into the scale and structure of architectural heritage is a starting point for creation of visual forms. Various levels of abstraction connect data sets and give new understanding to the role and importance of these places.
